We purchased an Amish handmade Oak rubbish container for the kitchen. One would assume that this $200.00 item would include a wastebasket to put inside. Well of course not and now I had a mission. I searched everywhere for a 36 qt. wastebasket and none to be found. They must not be making that size anymore. Thank heavens for Amazon. I found my 36 qt. WB and it fits perfectly.

No bells, no whistles. It’s a plastic kitchen trash can. Mine is so old that I’ve forgotten when and where I bought it. This morning I cleaned it up to pass along to my daughter, because it’s exactly the size she needs for an under-sink pullout. I’m sure she had hoped for a trust fund instead. How often can you buy something for under $10, use it every day for 15 or 20 years, and pass it along in almost-perfect condition? This thing is a bargain – and now an heirloom.

This Rubbermaid 2806TP-BISQU 36 Qt is the trashcan around which our pull-out trash drawer is designed. Surprisingly it is available at very limited locations and only online for us. This perfectly fit the slots. The old cans are 10 years old and just starting to crack at the rim; still usable but showing their age. We will use them for yard waste.
