A Great Trashcan,

I would have never believed that an expensive (more than $10) trash can would be worth it – after all simplehuman butterfly 10-gallon step trash can just needs to hold the trash. But after waking up to find the dog tipping over the trash can and shredding the bags, we decided we needed a change. After some research and testing we found this trash can and have had it for the last few months and really appreciated it.

*This is a great trash can, that we think will be worth its price over the many years we plan to use it.

*The plastic inside liner bin in a nice touch which makes cleanup easy while keeping the bag/liners out of sight.
*The opening is large enough for a gallon-sized milk container or a pizza box, so we no longer just stack those next to the trash can.
*The no-slamming controlled closing of the cover make it quiet and easy to use.
*The mechanism to open the doors is solid, responsive, and looks to be well made.
*The exterior & interior is easy to clean and keep looking sharp.
*Normal tall kitchen garbage bag liners fit well, saving on expensive trash can liners
*The lids can lock in the open position which makes it easy when we are cooking and need to dump lots of things, such as onion peels, chili stems, etc.
*The dog has tried and FAILED to get into the trash, tip the can over, or otherwise have an extra meal from the trash.

So, I know that this simplehuman butterfly 10-gallon step trash can is expensive, but I think it is will be a worthwhile investment for you and provide all the joy that a trash can could ever provide. It certainly eliminated many annoyances we had (and some we did not even realize we had) with our previous trash containments and not introduced any new ones. I know. Almost $200 for a trashcan?! I thought simplehuman butterfly 10-gallon step trash can was ridiculous, too. Until I tried one out and fell in love. Beautiful design, fits perfectly in a slim space but holds a ton, buttery smooth soft-closing feature (no more slamming lids), keeps trash and odors contained, high-quality build that lasts. I’ve had mine for 10 years now and it still works and looks like new. The outside stainless steel can has enough weight to keep it in place and the inside plastic bin pulls out easily and fits normal size tall kitchen liner bags. And like others have said, our large dog cannot get into it or knock it down. Best investment!

Great little trashcan!,

I use  Stainless Steel Touchless Trashcan in my master bathroom and after 9 months now, it still works great. I haven’t had any major issues with it so far, and it does get used quite often. It looks great (it doesn’t look cheap or stick out like a sore thumb), and is very functional. Overall, I have been very pleased with the quality of it, and would definitely purchase it again.

The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because my one and only complaint is that Stainless Steel Touchless Trashcan doesn’t take long for the batteries to need replacing. The lid starts to act up and not open or close as efficiently, but replacing the batteries fixes the problem immediately. I replaced the batteries out of the trash can last time when it started acting up and put the “used” ones from the trash can in my TV remote just to see if there was still any use in them, and the batteries lasted another 3 months in the remote. Stainless Steel Touchless Trashcan seems to require a high level of life left on the battery to work at 100%.

hard to please,
Ok so I wanted a can that had a removable can inside and a lid to… well.. be the pooper scooper can. Yep that’s right. I put a standard plastic grocery bag over the inside can every week and collect my little pooch’s dog poop. I don’t have to touch anything but the small shovel (spade) handle and Voila the nasty deed is done. Since my pooch is small I only empty it once a week. Keeps the flys away with just a spray of vinegar a day.
IF you’re not buying this for the reason I just stated, you’ll still love it. I would like to have one of  Stainless Steel Touchless Trashcan in my living room by my chair to keep, same before mentioned, pooch out of the trash!

FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU WANT THIS THING. It opens easily. I was worried about it opening at random or if something got to close, but that is not the case. So, just walking by it will not cause it to open. you have to wave or move your hand over the sensor to activate it. Well worth the money spent.

I needed a kitchen garbage can that holds up to two chocolate labs,this one
past the test! It is very durable and practical,the self-closing lid and locking
features to mention a few, as well as the price! I shopped around quite a bit
and found stainless steel to be too expensive beside showing lot of fingerprints!

If you can love a trash can, I love this simplehuman  Step Trash Can can!!! Bought a brown granite sink and kept thinking how could I blend brown with stainless steel appliances and the foot lever and the snap on the lid are silver so I loved it even more. Great trash can!!! I have no problems with a regular 13 gallon bag fitting it and love that the top will stay up. I feel it was well worth the price, seen it on other sites alot more expensive.

We’ve had this simplehuman Step Trash Can for a little over a year. We still love it and use it several times a day. The locking lid is amazing and we’ve had to use it several times, we have 2 dogs indoors that LOVE to trash dive if there is something yummy in there. It hasn’t failed us yet and they have given up their old habits. The most they try to do now is sniff around the lid, but they always walk away without trying to get into it now.

Excellent Pet Food Container Size

It is obvious that a lot of thought went into designing this pet food storage can. We bought it for the sleek design look and are loving it for its practicality. I expect the removable liner to help maintain it for years to come. The lid seals well to keep our pet food fresh, and prevents any unwanted midday snacking! As an added bonus it is very convenient to have a scoop magnetically snap onto the underside of lid, especially when the kibble level is getting low. We have purchased two of these bins now for our two different types of dog food and slid them under our side counter. The wheels on the back make it very easy to pull out during feeding times. A 30 lb bag of dog food comes to the very top. We highly recommend this product despite the high cost.

Definitely worth the money

I was extremely reluctant in purchasing such an expensive pet food storage can but needed something that would deter rodents and also look nice while it sat out in the open. This seemed to be the answer…except the price was a little steep.

I’ve had it for about a month or 2 and I do not regret purchasing it one bit. There’s a handy little scoop that fits in the cover of the bin and the added benefit of being able to pull out the inner bin is huge when you’re down to the last bits of kibble. The wheels in the back are functional.

Mostly, though, I’m happy that it keeps potential rodents out, the dogs out, and it looks amazing. I’m thinking about even purchasing the matching trash can!

My only complaint is that the finish scratches VERY easily. I placed a plastic container on top of the lid and when I removed it, there were permanent scratches on the brushed stainless surface. I expected the finish to much more durable. I like the vacuum seal, magnetic clipped scoop on the inside of the lid, and the removable container insert.

Smaller than advertised, but still a good buy.,
I wanted a compost keeper that I wouldn’t have to empty every day. I eat a lot of produce and create a lot of compostable waste. This Compost Waste Collector had the largest volume of all those listed on Amazon.

The bad news is that it is NOT as large as advertised. It is not 2.4 gallons, but only 2 gallons. It is still large, though.

The carbon insert means it never smells, which is nice. It fits under my kitchen sink. I empty it about twice a week. The handle is strong and works. The lid closes tightly.

I’m glad I bought this Compost Waste Collector. I would recommend it to anyone.

Exactly what I was looking for to keep in my kitchen under the sink. I originally had only a bucket and the gnats/fruit flies were becoming an issue. Along with the extra filters and biodegradable bags I purchased, this Compost Waste Collector makes saving for the compost bin almost effortless.

It was reccomended by Americas test kitchen. The top has a crack in it 1st time I used it and put the so called smell filter on, Not easy to empty. i’m going to back to the old one I had for 7 years.

For the people who were not happy with how the item was packaged, I disagree that just being put in a box and sent was a bad thing. I don’t believe in all this excess packaging that is just a waste. This isn’t a fragile item that needs protection. I don’t believe that the manufacturer or Amazon can be held responsible for damage that occurs in shipping. Sometimes things break, all you have to do is return them.

After using this for a couple of weeks I think the people who reported a crack in the bottom must have tried stuffing it because it is very strong and sturdy. I empty mine once a week and so far no odor or gnat problems.

The only thing I don’t understand is the two green pieces included. The only place I found for them was in the hinge for the handle but I don’t see what they do.

GREAT trash can/recycling solution

I read the positive and negative reviews. Honestly, I think those leaving negative feedback may have had unrealistic expectations. This receptacle is great. Was able to hide the trash bag edges easily on the first try – the trick is to pull the rings out, cinch the drawstring a little, and then tug on the inside of the bag before pushing the rings all the way back in. It’s bigger than I thought it would be, after reading a bunch of reviews where it was smaller than the buyer thought. It’s perfect – nice look, functional, and I don’t think the novelty of having an automatic trash can will ever wear off. No problems using the touch free.

Exactly what I expected!,

I love this trash can. It was much cheaper than the Simple Human brand and takes standard trash bags so I don’t have to buy any special bags. I just wish it was a little bigger because the trash bags aren’t FULL when no more trash will fit in the can. I hate wasting them. Also, the rings that you fold the trash bags around are kind of a pain, so taking out the trash isn’t a 30 second job any more. I am short so every time I walk by it the sensor senses my hand and the lid opens.

This can looks great in my kitchen and after a week in my BUSY home hasn’t collected any finger prints. I am impressed! The lid seems to help keep odors to a minimum (like when bananas are in the trash). Even my husband puts things in the recycle now.

From my perspective that’s the good and the bad. Overall, it is a great product and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Most reasonably priced + very useful
I was looking for a kitchen compost pail to store peels and cores and other kitchen waste to take out to my compost bin nightly, or every other night, without investing in pricey bags and filters to line what is essentially a bucket. The OXO Good Grips Compost bin appealed to me because it’s very simple: it stores your compostable kitchen waste on the counter or under the sink for up to a few days before taking it out to the compost bin. It’s got a handle, a flip-up lid that stays up, and the inner surface is smooth, rounded plastic, allowing for super-easy rinsing. The only improvement I would make would be for the lid to snap shut. I couldn’t see that in the Amazon photo, but took a shot and ordered it anyway. I don’t regret it, because even though it doesn’t snap shut we have not had any problem with pests getting into the bucket (or even being attracted to it. We have had no bugs attracted to the bin, even when it contained a couple days’ worth of strawberry bits). It’s a very servicable product, and nice and innocuous looking enough to sit out on the counter if you choose. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and there are no negatives. (Note: As another reviewer commented, the lid is NOT clear as pictured. It is white)

It’s all the little things adding up to a superb product

To wit, the inside surface is seamless and the walls join the floor in a curve, so very little matter get’s stuck in the bottom and it rinses easier. The tab on the front edge of the hinged lid allow you to add to and dump the contents without touching a surface containing waste. The lid’s hinge permits the lid to travel past 180 degrees and sticks in place at it’s full travel for dumping. The seal of the lid is loose, so you don’t run a risk of splashing or flinging gunk when you open it. The lid is also removable at the hinge, so getting the pail and lid under the faucet for rinsing is eased. I’ve found the shape of the pail to be ideal for fitting under my sink while having a relatively small footprint. Lastly, the handle is adequate for even a child to use.

I was initially suspicious of the lack of venting or a filter for odors, but if you empty the pail at the end of the day, it never smells, so save your dough and pass on the expensive stainless steel products.

I’m extremely critical of product design. This is how products should be made, and while $20 might seem like a lot to pay for potato-peel pail, you really get what you pay for.

How much is too much for a very good hamper?,
I’ve only lived with the hamper for 10 days but I think it will be long lasting. It is solid and very roomy. The bag, even when very full, lifts out and is carried to the laundry area easily using the pictured handle. The lid stays up when you lift it until you push is down. Nice. The hamper is 15″ deep so does take up some space in the room, but it looks very good if you like a dark finish. We have it in our bedroom with our heavy mahogany furniture.

The odd thing is I saw this Taylor Wooden Laundry Basket on Amazon sold by different companies for different prices. Cheapest was 130.00 without shipping. I paid 19$ more, but the price can be as high as 154.oo so search the site carefully. This is the first time I had such a changeable price on Amazon. I searched several times on different days using different search terms and came up with varied sellers and varied makers with the same exact picture.

Still a good product and seeing as it is solid it is probably worth the price. Time will tell.

Most well constructed hamper I’ve seen!,
When I received this Taylor Wooden Laundry Basket, I was amazed at how heavy the box was, which I discovered was due to the construction of this laundry hamper. It is truly the most solidly constructed hamper I’ve ever owned or seen. If I ever needed an available place to lean on or even sit while changing footwear, I’d have no fear about this piece of furniture being able to support my weight. Beyond the construction, it is a good size overall, fits in perfectly with the masculine look of a guy’s bedroom and even matches the finish almost exactly of my dark contemporary furniture. The only negatives I can think of so far would be, a section of trim around the hamper is not smoothly finished on top, which is far from a major issue, just odd due to the rest of it is completely finished. Other than that, I don’t mind this but some people may, due to the solid wood construction, it truly is heavy for a hamper, if that could be a problem for anyone. Shipping was much faster than I expected and it was protected very well by its packaging it arrived in.

A hamper as a piece of furniture,
My fiancee and I have been looking for a hamper for the bedroom for a while now, as we were tired of using the typical white plastic piece in our newly renovated bedroom. This one fit the bill very nicely. No, it’s not divided, but I didn’t really care about division anyway. As for the color, it is a Cappuccino for sure. The problem with labeling something as Cappuccino is that everyone things of it differently. I have this Taylor Wooden Laundry Basket piece on the opposite side of the room from ever other piece of dark furniture, so it’s not an issue.

The only flaw I have seen is the velcro on the removable bag doesn’t hold too well. When the basket is full, it has a tendency to come undone before I get the basket to the laundry machine. More times than not, we end up not using the removable bag, and it works great. It was great to finally find a piece of furniture to use as a hamper. It works great for 2 people who do laundry weekly. If it was 10-20% bigger it would have been perfect, but even as is, Taylor Wooden Laundry Basket is  a lot better than everything else.
